Eugene Events is a free calendar of things to do in Eugene, Oregon, run by Eve Weinberg. This page says what the site collects, why, and how to have it deleted.

Using the calendar without signing in

You can browse every event without an account. We don't run ad trackers, analytics scripts or tracking pixels. Your browser saves a few settings in its own local storage (for example your default categories, and a pending friend link if you opened one). That data stays on your device.

Signing in with Google

Signing in is optional. It lets you RSVP, keep your events and see friends. Google sign-in is the only way to sign in. When you sign in, Google tells us your account id, your name and your profile photo link. Google may also send your email address while it checks the sign-in. We don't store it.

After you sign in, the site keeps a sign-in token in your browser's local storage for up to 7 days, so you stay signed in. Signing out removes it.

What we store for signed-in members

Who sees it: your friends see your name, photo, which events you're going to or might go to, and your notes. People who find you in the directory see your name and photo. They never see your RSVPs. A shared events link shows your first name and your Yes and Maybe events. A shared event link shows only your first name and whether you're going to that one event.

Feedback and source suggestions

If you send feedback, we keep your message and, only if you type it, your email address so we can reply. When you're signed in, the feedback also records your account id and name. Feedback and source suggestions are emailed to Eve. To limit spam, signed-out feedback is counted against a one-way hash of your IP address, never the address itself.

Where it's stored

The site and its data are hosted on Netlify. Member data and feedback are stored in Netlify Blobs. Like most web hosts, Netlify logs basic request data such as IP addresses. Fonts load from Google Fonts. The sign-in button loads Google's own sign-in script, and Google's privacy policy applies to it.

We don't sell your data or share it with advertisers.

Deleting your data

You can change or clear your RSVPs and notes, remove friends, and hide yourself from the directory at any time from the site. The site doesn't have a delete-account button yet.

To delete your account and everything stored with it (profile, photo, RSVPs, notes, friends, notifications, share links and any feedback you sent), email evejweinberg@gmail.com from any address and include the name on the Google account you signed in with. We'll delete it and confirm by email, usually within 7 days.

You can also remove Eugene Events from your Google Account under Security › Your connections to third-party apps & services. That stops the site's access but doesn't delete what we stored, so email us too.

Children

Eugene Events isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
